See what our readers are saying!
Wanted to let you know I finished your book yesterday. I find I start reading more books than I ever finish. I also don’t allocate as much time as I would like to pleasure reading, but I found your story so captivating I went back to it every chance I had.
I loved the book. What an amazing story on so many fronts. I’m sorry I never had a chance to meet your mother… what an adventurer! Your family experiences make my first 18 years . . . seem like a yawn :-).
Congratulations to you and Michele on a fabulous accomplishment. –Jack W. E-mail, 16 September 2020.
Most notable . . . is the power of positivity that pervades the entire story throughout. More broadly this story should inform our interactions with those around us. Reminding us that “there is no one on the train of life without baggage” and that “everyone’s got a story.” An amazing read! —Meshulem Michael Epstein LCSW. 22 July 2020.
This book is mesmerizing.
I couldn’t put it down. It is so well-written and captured me from the very first page . . . Such a wonderful and enchanting story of family and those childhood memories not forgotten. —Rachel Mesko. Waiting for Armageddon, Facebook, 7 July 2020
A powerful intimate account of a family’s struggles!
I [first] met Michele and Maryam Mansour at a book signing . . . After chatting with them and asking them about their book, I purchased it. Once I started reading their account of the journey their family traveled through, I could not put it down. It is an amazing story, a well written incredible read.

Fascinating Story!
I received my book on a Tuesday and by Thursday I had finished it! I couldn’t put it down. It’s incredible the way this family faced many adversities in their lives, used each other’s strengths to survive and the children managed to emerge as very normal adults despite their unconventional upbringing. Because this family’s life was so starkly different than what I experienced growing up, I just couldn’t put this book down out of curiosity of what the next adventure or adversity they would be faced with and what the outcome would be. It’s an easy read and certainly entertaining! —Diane K. Amazon, 27 May 2020
Could not put this book down!
I found Waiting for Armageddon: A Twinoir to be an excellent read; could not put it down!
Addressing the love of family that can be both supportive and restrictive the book was a courageous effort by the authors in what can be described as an honest if not tough look back into a non-typical family and childhood. Events that could have easily separated this family, drove them to remain together against all odds. During a time when women were not expected to be the strongest member of the parenting team, this mother was successful in teaching her children how to adapt, survive, and not just accept that the standard way is the best and/or the only way. —Kristie Congdon. A book you can’t put down.
A remarkable true story of a family and the challenges they faced over the years. Repercussions of home schooling and their faith in their religion propel them into foster care, prison and running away to be reunited with their family again. You won’t be disappointed with the read. —Sheridan. Amazon, 5 August 2020.
Terrific Book!
I have known Michele (the book’s co-author) for 25 years. We met and worked together in the ‘90’s and have remained friends since. At work, during slow moments, she would tell me some of the stories of her childhood, I was shocked, titillated and amused. I also thought her childhood experiences explained a lot about her often “strange” (to me!) opinions as an adult! So many people encouraged Michele and her sister to put it on paper and I’m so glad they did. I knew —as a friend — I’d buy the book. I didn’t know what a fantastic read the book would be. You will have a tough time putting this book down. Buy this book now! Momfirst. Amazon, 28 August 2020.
A unique and beautifully told story about children being raised in an unconventional household.
This was a joy to read from start to finish. A refreshing way to tell a story, an interesting story to be told, and a very well-written story all in one. Thank you both for sharing your unique childhood experiences and making this book. —Nell Donnelly-O’Boyle. Amazon, 22 September 2020.
